INTERNATIONAL TALENT SEARCH
Niche Recruitment Role
A leading international game development and distribution firm required a Team Lead Recruiter to support their aggressive growth plans and recruit for their new office in Toronto.
The qualified talent pool for this role was very small. The successful candidate needed to possess not only exemplary recruitment and leadership skills, but also an in-depth understanding of the unique needs of the gaming industry, the technical requirements of the positions for which they would be recruiting, and the personality types that succeed in a gaming environment. It was expected that the new hire would also bring an international network of candidates to the role.
After being unable to fill this role for three months, the firm chose to engage Head2Head to conduct an international search.
Due to the stringent candidate qualifications, our team quickly ascertained that this search had to be conducted outside of our existing recruitment database. Working closely with customer stakeholders, we researched the industry to determine the best geographical locations for potential talent and salary ranges for each area, and created a list of target companies of similar size that had experienced similar growth. This research, the customer’s requirements, and the salary banding for this role led us to target gaming recruitment talent in the eastern U.S. and England, and develop a detailed talent map of potentially suitable candidates in these areas.
Our recruiter then began a direct sourcing campaign, approaching each of the passive candidates identified in the talent map, and engaging each individual on the opportunity. Interested candidates were then screened against the requirements. As relocation was required, the candidate conversion process was a particular focus in this search, with the recruiter conducting many in-depth conversations with each candidate during the evaluation process.
We proposed a short list of two fully qualified individuals. Our recruiter then coordinated first-round interviews by phone, and Skype and in-person interviews for the finalist ca ndidate on the customer’s behalf.
The customer successfully hired a U.K.-based candidate with a background in gaming industry recruitment with Electronic Arts. Head2Head supported the customer and the successful candidate throughout the offer and negotiation process, and help advise the new hire with regards to aspects of their move to Canada.
