2008 Recruiting Salary Report

2008 was a great year for recruiting professionals!

We've just released the results of our second annual Recruiting Salary Report, and while the newspapers may be full of doom and gloom, the outlook for recruiting professionals is almost entirely good.

For the second year in a row, average salaries for corporate recruiting professionals were up significantly (by almost 6%), and by as much as 15% for senior roles and hot categories like IT and professional services.

Highlights of the report include:

• Base salaries are 6% higher than they were a year ago
• The greatest increases – as much as 15% - are in senior recruiting roles such as Senior Recruiting Manager and Recruiting Director
• Increased use of performance bonuses based on time-to-hire and quality-of-hire
• Greatest salary increases in Energy/Utilities, Healthcare, and IT/Telco recruiting
• Ontario and BC salaries are 5% above the national average, while Atlantic Canada is almost 10% below

The recruitment function is changing

In this year's report, we've included a new industry, 'Healthcare', which reflects the continuing and increasing demand for recruiters with experience in healthcare-related fields.

And we've also added a new role, 'Sourcing 1'. This role reflects the value organizations are putting on strategic sourcing as a distinct specialization within the overall recruiting role.
